The Bulgarian vignette validity period is the time for which your toll sticker will remain effective. As for now, you can choose one of five different vignette types, depending on the time you plan on driving through Bulgaria. Purchase a toll valid for – 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or an entire year.
It is mandatory to have a Bulgarian vignette while traveling through the territories of Bulgaria using motorways and expressways. The purpose behind introducing vignettes was to generate revenue to finance the maintenance of national roads.
The Bulgarian digital vignette (also known as an electronic vignette) serves as a way of covering the tax for using toll roads via an online system. Linking an e-vignette to a vehicle registration number allows the authorities to track toll usage and provide an efficient way of managing Bulgarian roads.
Keep in mind that during your journey, you can be stopped at any time for a vignette control by the Bulgarian officers. They will check the condition of your vehicle and ensure you have a valid vignette. If you fail to meet these requirements, you will face a pricey fine.
Currently, there are five types of Bulgarian e-vignette. Select a suitable toll sticker type depending on the time you plan to spend abroad and the total gross weight of your vehicle. There are vignettes for vehicles under 3.5 tons that vary in the guaranteed validity period. For larger trucks, you will need a Route Pass.
Validity period of the Bulgarian vignette
Depending on the vehicle you are driving and the time you would like to spend in Bulgaria, you should obtain a suitable vignette (traditional sticker or e-vignette). For short-term travel, you may need a 7-day, or 30-day toll. Longer journeys through Bulgarian toll roads will require a 90-day or annual vignette.

Traveling through Bulgaria in a vehicle over 3.5t, you should purchase a Route Pass. It allows you to drive a single distance on the paid road stretch. Install a special measuring unit in your truck and cover the toll payment. There is only one type of Bulgarian Route Pass.
