When to buy a vignette before entering Slovenia toll roads
A driver must purchase a vignette and select the start date of its validity before entering the motorway or expressway in Slovenia.
It is possible to choose immediate validity or select any day up to 30 days from the date of obtaining a Slovenian vignette as a validity start date.
E-vignettes for Slovenia are available for purchase in the online store and at DARS points of sale (DarsGo services) or at authorized dealers.
Make sure to select the correct toll class for your vehicle. You can choose between (1 toll class). Toll class 1 is for single-track motor vehicles like motorbikes. Toll class 2 applies to most passenger cars, minivans, terrain vehicles, SUVs, and pick-ups. The 2B toll class includes most of the multi-purpose vehicles and light trucks.
Speed limits in Slovenia
Slovenia has the following standard speed limits (unless otherwise stated on the signs):
Cars and motorcycles
- in the village – 50 km/h
- outside the village – 90 km/h
- on a high-speed road – 110 km/h
- on the highway – 130 km/h
Cars with trailers
- in the village – 50 km/h
- outside the village – 90 km/h
- on a high-speed road – 100 km/h
- on the highway – 100 km/h
Note: It is not allowed to drive on motorway vehicles at a speed less than 60 km/h according to their technical specifications. The maximum permissible speed for vehicles with snow chains is 50 km/h.
