About Types of Slovenian Vignettes
Slovenia vignette types differ in terms of validity as well as the vehicle category. It is extremely important to purchase the proper type of vignette, as it is connected with the vehicle registration number, and it is impossible to change it later.
There are three categories of Slovenian toll classes according to certain vehicle categories: 1: single-track motor vehicles, 2A: two-track motor and caravan vehicles, and 2B: two-track vehicles with a height above the front axle 1.3 m or more.
To determine which category applies to a vehicle, a driver should measure the vehicle’s height on the first axle and the number of axles of the vehicle with a trailer.
It is also possible to choose between several options for the validity period. For a toll category 1, one can get an annual e-vignette, a semi-annual e-vignette, or a weekly e-vignette. The other toll categories have annual, monthly, and weekly options.
It is highly recommended to check the available options to know which Slovenia vignette type fits you best. Note that without a valid vignette for Slovenia, you will be fined.
Slovenia digital vignette toll classes
Single-track motor vehicles
The first class of tolls is applicable for single-track motor vehicles, which involve all vehicles with a width of up to 50 cm. It is crucial that you choose the right toll class. To measure the track, take a measuring tape or a tailor meter and check the distance from one outer edge to the other.
Two-track motor and caravan vehicles
Vehicles in the 2A toll class are typically passenger cars, minivans, terrain vehicles, SUVs, and pick-ups, all of which have a maximum permitted weight of up to 3.5 t and a height above the front axle of up to 1.3 m.
Two-track vehicles with height above front axle 1.3 m or more
Vehicles with a maximum weight of 3.5 t or less, and a front axle above 1.3 m, are to be classified under the 2B toll class (typically multi-purpose vehicles and light trucks).
Slovenia e-vignette types according to validity
Annual e-vignette
Slovenia annual e-vignette remains effective from the validity start date specified by the driver and up to the end of the same day in the proceeding year.
For instance, if you buy an annual vignette with 25 January 2023 as a start validity date, you are able to drive Slovenian roads until 12 midnight on 25 January 2024.
However, note that if you select 29 February of the leap year as the start date, your digital vignette for Slovenia becomes invalid on 28 February of the following year.
Semi-annual e-vignette
The semi-annual e-vignette for Slovenia is valid from the start date chosen during the purchasing procedure until the end of the same day after six months or until the last day of that month if the sixth month does not have such a day.
Should you set the validity start date for 25 January 2023, the Slovenia electronic vignette will be effective until the end of 25 July 2023.
Keep in mind that the semi-annual e-vignette can be obtained only for single-track motor vehicles (the first toll class).
Monthly e-vignette
Slovenia monthly e-vignette validity period starts from the date selected by the driver and ends on the same day in the following month or on the last day of that month if there is no such day.
As an example, the monthly digital vignette with the start date of 25 January 2023 allows its owners to use the motorways and expressways until 12 midnight on 25 February 2023.
Weekly e-vignette
The weekly e-vignette for Slovenia stays valid for seven consecutive days from the validity start date. A weekly electronic vignette can be used on the date chosen in the form and the following six days.
Note: A Slovenian weekly e-vignette valid from Wednesday, 25 January 2023, does not expire until midnight on Tuesday, 31 January 2023.
