About Vignette Validity in Czech Republic
Czech vignette validity differs depending on the selected vignette type. There are three different types available. Namely, it is possible to buy a vignette valid for 10 days, 30 days, or even 1 year.
These vignette types, however, apply only to at least four-wheel vehicles not exceeding 3.5t. Vehicles over 3.5 t must use a dedicated electronic toll system called MYTO CZ.
The vignette prices depend on the selected vignette types as well as the category of your vehicle. If you are a driver of a motorbike or drive a trailer or caravan, please note that there is no additional toll applicable.
Once you select one vignette type and complete the order process, your vignette receipt will soon be sent to your email address. There is no waiting period before your vignette becomes valid. It will be active immediately after purchase, so you can start using your valid vignette straight away.
Validity period of the Czech vignette
The Czech Republic introduced three types of digital vignettes with three different validity periods:
- a 10-day vignette: an electronic vignette valid for 10 days;
- a 30-day vignette: an electronic vignette valid for 30 days;
- an annual vignette: an electronic vignette valid for 365 days.
The vignette start date can be selected in the calendar during the purchasing process. Make sure to choose the correct date to ensure your vignette will cover the proper period when you will be driving through the Czech Republic.
If you buy a vignette in advance of the planned trip, the start date can be selected up to 3 months in advance. However, if you need to obtain a vignette for the Czech Republic on short notice, do remember that it will be active within a few minutes after covering the service fee.
Your valid digital vignette will be assigned to the respective license plate indicated during the order process. If its start date has not yet occurred, it is possible to transfer it to another vehicle. However, if it is already active, you will not be able to transfer your vignette.
Toll system for vehicles over 3.5t
If your vehicle exceeds 3.5t, you will not need to obtain a vignette. Instead, you must register online in the MYTO CZ toll system and install a GPS locator in your vehicle. The device will measure your distance driven in the country, and based on that, the toll amount will be determined.
At the moment, the toll for vehicles over 3.5t is about 14 cents/km and depends on the number of axles and pollutant class. There are also three classes of vehicles according to weight, i.e., 3.5t – 7.5t category, 7.5t-12t category, and vehicles over 12t.
