About Vignette Types in Romania

Romanian vignette types are the possible kinds of vignette available in Romania. In order to use toll roads in the country, you need to obtain a valid vignette called rovinieta. There is no need to put a physical toll sticker on the windscreen anymore, as the Romanian government introduced a digital vignette in 2010.b

We can distinguish a few types of Romania e-vignette according to validity period and vehicle categories. Generally, you can select 1-day, 7-day, 30-day, 90-day, and 12-month vignettes (note that a 1-day digital vignette is not available for A and B categories of vehicles).

You can use toll roads in Romania after the purchase of the e-vignette. It is possible to buy it remotely or at the sales points, such as a post office or gas station. The whole procedure won’t take long. Just fill in the information, cover the fee, and receive confirmation.

Traveling without Romania Vignette

You must have a digital vignette in Romania, or you may be punished. Only motorcycle drivers are excused from purchasing it. Toll roads in Romania are monitored by video systems; therefore, your license plate will be examined. Consider that driving without an e-vignette in Romania might cost up to €100. Prepare before your tour to avoid inconveniences.
